After a world premiere at the Sheffield Crucible in February this year, it has been announced that Everybody's Talking about Jamie will transfer to the West End. It will open at the Apollo Theatre from 6th November 2017.
Daniel Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae's musical is loosely based on the documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16. It tells the story of 16 year old Jamie New, a boy from Sheffield who only wants to do one thing in life once he leaves school - become a drag queen.
Initial casting as been announced, with the majority of the cast from Sheffield transferring with the production. John McCrea will once again play the role of Jamie New, alongside Josie Walker, Mina Anwar, Tamsin Carroll, Lucie Shorthouse, Daniel Anthony, Luke Baker, Courtney Bowman, James Gillian, Harriet Payne, Shiv Rabheru and Kristie Skivington.
The production is directed by Jonathan Butterell and choreographed by Kate Prince, with musical direction by Theo Jamieson.
Koala saw the show at Sheffield Crucible twice and whilst Theatre Bears weren't reviewing shows at that time, it would have most definitely been given 5/5. Koala would recommend this show to anyone and everyone!
Everybody's Talking About Jamie officially opens at the Apollo Theatre on 22nd November 2017, with previews from 6th November.
